COCKTAIL RECIPES

Infusions are just the beginning.

Our favorite way to drink infusions is ice cold in a shot glass. But we’ve got to admit: with their acidity and the way they capture flavors, they are kind of the ideal cocktail ingredient.

Here are some of our popular infusion cocktail recipes for you to recreate at home.

BLOODY MASHA

Surprisingly, there isn’t a Bloody Mary tradition in Russia, despite a well-demonstrated supply of vodka, hangovers, horseradish, and all sorts of pickled accoutrements! Chef Bonnie Morales created this recipe with the help of her brother, Simon, who is a passionate Bloody Mary drinker.

Yields 1 Pint

1 tsp Caraway Seeds
1 tsp Black Peppercorns
1 tsp Coriander Seeds
1 tsp Brown Mustard Seeds
6 oz Campbell’s Tomato Juice
2 1/4 oz Horseradish Vodka
2 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
2 tsp fresh lemon juice
1 tsp Chopped Fresh Dill
1/2 tsp Prepared Horseradish
1/2 tsp Kosher Salt
Garnishes of your choice (Pickles, Cured Meats, Smoked Fish, Cheese, Fresh Herbs, etc.!)

Heat a small skillet over medium heat and toast the caraway seeds, peppercorns, coriander seeds, and mustard seeds, stirring until aromatic — a minute or two. Pulverize in a spice grinder and toss the ground spices into a mixing bowl along with remaining ingredients. Whisk until combined, then taste to adjust seasonings.

Serve over ice with skewered garnishes of your choice.

ROKATINKA

Inspired by the Katinka classic cocktail, the Rokatinka earns its name by having an elegant profile somehow also reminiscent of “Rokas,” a nostalgic candy of Israel’s childhood. If you’re looking to find a brighter, less harsh expression of horseradish vodka, look no further!

2 oz Horseradish vodka

.75 oz Lime juice

.5 oz Apricot liqueur

.25 oz Simple syrup

Shake and double strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a lime wheel that's been dipped in tajin.

HORSERADISH MARTINI

Spicy, uplifting, bold; it’s the best accompaniment to tinned fish and pickled appetizers, or the perfect pre-dinner cocktail to stir the appetite.

1.5 oz Horseradish Vodka

1 oz Beefeater Gin

1/4 tsp Combier Kümmel

1 dash Celery Bitters

Stir and strain into a stemmed glass with a half-salted rim. Garnish with scallion.

ICE QUEEN

Named for cruel eighteenth-century Empress, Anna Ivanovna, the Ice Queen cocktail is frothy and ice cold with classic Eastern European flavors of kefir, caraway, horseradish, and dill. The story goes that Anna made a prince into her court jester, forced him to marry her ugly handmaid, then built a giant ice palace for their wedding night. The new couple were forced to stay in the ice palace absolutely naked in the dead of winter, and only survived by bribing one of the guards.

.5 oz Horseradish Vodka

1 oz Aalborg Aquavit

.75 oz Pamplemousse

1.5 oz Kefir

1 pinch kosher salt

Shake and strain over a large cube. Garnish with the head of one large dill sprig while shooting passing songbirds with a rifle from your bedroom window.
